As we gather together to worship the Lord, our hearts are saddened by the shooting that happened in Colorado, and I think we must ask ourselves what does The Dark Knight Rises shooting tell us about America? What does this tell us about our country? Where have we gone wrong that a young person can walk into a theater, a bright person, someone that is in a PhD program, can walk into a theater with a bulletproof vest, helmet, gas mask, four weapons, and thousands of rounds of ammunition and kill 12 people and wound dozens of others? Certainly God has some answers for us. We’re going to look to see what the word of God has to say concerting this subject.

Sermon, 12/4/11, Why The Herman Cain Express Suffered a Massive Train Wreck, Character Does Count! Bryan Longworth, Covenant Tabernacle
If you read my previous post, Florida Presidency 5 Report: Why Did Delegates Hop on the Herman Cain Train?, you know that I was a delegate at Florida’s Presidency 5 (P5) Presidential Debate and Straw Poll held in Orlando FL. I supported, campaigned for, and voted for Herman Cain. I supported Cain because I believed the message he so eloquently presented, trusted that he was a man of integrity, and sensed the momentum would carry him to the top. As you know, that straw poll launched Cain’s campaign to the top of the Republican Presidential field and even above President Barack Obama, but the Cain Train has been derailed by accusations of sexual harassment and a 13 year affair. I addressed this topic in my sermon preached December 4, 2011:
I’m sure you’ve heard the news by now: The Herman Cain Express has suffered a severe train wreck. Why is it that Cain’s presidential campaign ended in disgrace. It is because character does count, especially if you’re a Republican. You see, there is a double standard in the media, and we have witnessed this time and time again. Bill Clinton’s multiple affairs prior to running for the presidency were totally ignored b y the mainstream media when Clinton ran for president. Our own St Lucie County School Board Member Kathryn Hensley said

9/16/2001 We will never forget 911, A Call to Repentance for America, Pastor Longworth
The sermon above was preached by Pastor Chuck Longworth, Pastor Bryan Longworth, and Jeremy Longworth Sunday, September 16, 2001 at Covenant Tabernacle Church in White City, FL. If you recall the time, you recall that America was in shock from the attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and the failed attack on the White House. This was the Sunday when all football and baseball games were postponed. Churches were filled. Pastors called for repentance. Americans prayed. Democrats and Republicans even sang God Bless America together, but was the 911 attacks a sign that God’s blessings and protection had been lifted from America? If so, what it necessary to return God’s blessing, protection, and favor to America? These questions were explored from the Bible by Pastor Chuck Longworth, Pastor Bryan Longworth, and Jeremy Longworth.
The Bible tells us in Psalm 27:1 “Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the LORD guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain. (NKJV) The United States of America has enjoyed the greatest of God’s blessing and protection over the years. The Lord has guarded our cities and our country for attacks from within and without, yet the Lord wasn’t guarding our city 911! And many will ask why was He not guarding our city? I will say that it is because we as a nation have left His commandments. We as a nation have departed from the principles, the moral foundation that this nation was founded upon. Many, even those in the church, have thought that America is so great that God couldn’t possibly fulfill His purpose in this earth without

Sermon, Why We Must End Abortion NOW, Training Our Children to Obey God Where We Have Failed to Do So Pastor Bryan Longworth, Covenant Tabernacle, Personhood
No parent wants to admit to their children that they have made mistakes in the past, yet that is exactly what God asks parents in general and fathers in particular in Psalm 78. In the 60s, we saw the rise of the sexual revolution in America, and the promiscuity has gotten progressively worse since that time. It is time that we turn back to God and look at His principles and His precepts. Here in Psalm 78:1-8, we read,

Sermon, Why We Must End Abortion NOW – And Who Is My Neighbor? Pastor Bryan Longworth, Covenant Tabernacle
Why We Must End Abortion NOW, And Who is My Neighbor? The Scribes and Pharacies were always trying to trick Jesus into saying something that would get Him in trouble. They laid such a trap for Jesus when a lawyer asked Him which is the most important commandment. Jesus answered the question with a question. The lawyer answered correctly that we are to love God and our neighbor as ourselves. Jesus affirmed the answer directing the man, “do this and you will live,” but the lawyer wanting to justify himself said and who is my neighbor? Jesus then shared one of the most powerful parables in the Bible, the parable of the good Samaritan. A Jewish man is robbed, beaten, and left for dead. A priest came by and walked right by, refusing to be neighbor to the injured man. A Levite did the same. Then came a Samaritan. you may recall that the Jews despised Samaritans and viewed them as half breeds which they were because they were from Jewish decent whose parents had intermarried with pagan nations. The Samaritan bandaged the man’s wounds, carried him on his donkey to an inn, cared for him, and paid the inn keeper additional money to care for the man until he could care for himself. The Samaritan, was neighbor to the man in the ditch.
The lawyer asked, “and who is my neighbor”? In the parable of the Good Samaritan, Jesus flips the question and asks who will you be neighbor to? The Priest wasn’t neighbor to the man lying in the ditch. The Levite wasn’t neighbor to the man lying in the ditch. But the despised Samaritan was neighbor him.
And how about you? Preborn baby girls and boys are lying in the ditch scheduled for slaughter by safe, legal abortion. Will you pass by on the other side of the street, or will you be neighbor to the preborn?

Fathers’ Day Sermon, Every Child Needs a Hero, Pastor Bryan Longworth, Covenant Tabernacle Church
Every child needs a hero. When I grew up, my hero was my dad. Before I would ever see Johnny Bench throw out a base runner, or watch Pete Rose get a hit, or cheer as Terry Bradshaw threw another touchdown pass, or watch with amazement as Franco Harris grabbed the immaculate reception. or took part in a Mylon Lefevre and Broken Heart or Stryper concert, my dad was my hero. I wanted to be like him. When he went to school, I got my books out so that I would look like him. I couldn’t wait each day until he picked me up from daycare! And the day I saw him working on the water fountain at my school, nothing could keep me from getting to him, not my teacher, not the gate fence, nothing. My dad taught me to have a

5-8-11 Sermon, Returning to God’s Plan for Motherhood, Covenant Tabernacle, Pastor Bryan Longworth
Today is a special day for mothers. It is the one day when mothers are honored and appreciated. We should honor them every day, yet all too often, mothers don’t receive the respect they deserve. motherhood is in a crisis in America because we have departed from the Biblical Standard for the Family, Fatherhood, and Motherhood. It is time that we return to the clear teaching of Christ found in the word of God, the Bible. These teachings deal with sex before marriage, faithfulness in marriage, whether we view children as a blessing or an inconvenience, the role of women in the work place, and the important but often neglected role of having the older women train the younger women. I challenge you to look to the scripture with me as we seek to understand God’s heart on mothers and motherhood.

5-1-11 National Day of Prayer, Humiliation, and Fasting Before God, Covenant Tabernacle, Pastor Bryan Longworth
Our nation has been rocked with natural disasters with raging storms sweeping through Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, and Tennessee, killing over 300 to date. Yet this is nothing new. Since that dreadful Roe v Wade decision and the ensuing millions upon millions of unborn babies that have been killed by “safe, legal” abortion on demand, we have seen ever increasing damage from natural disasters. From flooding in the Midwest, to earthquakes in the West and elsewhere, to wild fires, to hurricanes, to tornadoes, to ice storms, to drought. It is as if creation is groaning with birth pangs, eagerly awaiting the revealing of the sons of God (Romans 8:22). It is as if creation will not willingly put up with our futility and as if God is removing His restraining hand (Romans 8:19-21). It is as if the land were vomiting out its inhabitants as God warns in Leviticus 18 and 20.

Sermon, How Should We React to Unrest in the Middle East, End Times, Covenant Tabernacle, Pastor Bryan Longworth
When we see turmoil and revolution in the Middle East, what should we think? Should we rejoice with those who have struggled for so long under a merciless dictator? Should We Rejoice the These Nations Will Experience Freedom? Is is possible or even more likely the end result will be worse than the first? Isn’t it just as likely that the country will be taken over by the Muslim Brotherhood or another radical Islamic Fundamentalist organization that wants to destroy America and Israel and will kill its own people to accomplish that goal? Should we see this as a clear sign that we are end the end times? Should We Rejoice for Our Redemption Draws Neigh? Will Jesus soon rapture his church? What signs did Jesus say would indicate the beginning of the end times? What does the Bible have to say about these questions? Listen to my Sermon entitled How Should We React to Unrest in the Middle East where I tackle these questions from a Biblical perspective.

1/2/11, Sermon, It’s Time for Your Examination, New Year’s Resolution
This time of year, many Americans focus on what changes we should make to improve ourselves. Often, these changes revolve around weight loss, exercise, and other physical improvements. While it is important to take care of our bodies, it is much more important to make sure we are right with God. Learn what God says about how we should improve our physical and spiritual lives

12/19/10 Sermon, O Holy Night, What Christ has Wrought for Us, Christmas Carol, Jesus, God
O Holy Night was written in 1847 by Placide Cappeau as a Christmas Poem at the request of his parish priest in Paris France. The poem was later put to music by Adolphe Adam. The year the Christmas Carol was written is significant as we shall see when we look at verse three. Join us as we examine this carol and see how it preaches the gospel of Jesus Christ, God became flesh and dwelt among us.

12/5/10 Sermon, Has the Government Exceeded Its Biblical Authority
We have seen ever increasingly the ever expanding role of government in America. This expansion has greatly accelerated in the last two years as President Barack Obama has aggressively pushed his radical, socialist agenda. But it’s not just the Federal Government that’s at fault. In Florida, someone who wants to paint someone’s fence has to go to four government offices in different locations and pay fees to get an occupational permit. You shouldn’t need the governments permission to work!
How did the founding fathers make it without permits? How did their houses stand up. How did they make it without welfare? How did they survive without Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security? How did they send their kids to college without government loans? How did they make it without government regulation?
Has the federal government exceeded the authority provided it by our nation’s founding fathers in the US Constitution? More importantly, has it exceeded the authority God gave it in His word, the Bible?
