We need to turn back to God, and you may ask: how do we need to turn back to God? It’s not us that need to turn back to God, it’s all those wicked people out there, but let me tell you something: when the most conservative branch of Christianity only has 9% of its members that have a Biblical worldview, we have a problem in this nation. When the majority of Christians are more likely to be influenced by TV, the news, and movies than they are from the word of God, we have a problem in this nation. When we have pastors that stand up and condone fornication, and adultery, and homosexuality, and perform homosexual marriage ceremonies, and even ordain ministers of the gospel of Jesus Christ who are homosexual, something that God says is an abomination, we have a problem in this nation. When we shed the blood of over 55,000,000 preborn children for our convenience, for our figures, for our careers, we have a problem in this nation.

God has called us to be the culture carriers. He has called us to disciple the nations. He has called us to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world. Certainly, we have been in some tough economic times in this country. These times have led many to ask, “How’s that hope and change working for you?” Certainly for a lot of people, not as well as they had hoped.

At this time of year, we remember the Christ child. Conceived by an unwed young girl and born in a lowly manger, the circumstances of his conception and birth could easily be described a crisis pregnancy, yet Jesus was and is the greatest gift of all.

Every child is a gift from God, regardless the circumstances surround her conception and birth. While not every child is planned or comes under perfect circumstances, every child is a blessing, for every child bears God’s image reminding us of how valuable we are to Him! Sermon, 12-18-11, What Kind of Nation Have We Become When We Value Possessions More Than Human Life, Pastor Bryan Longworth, Covenant Tabernacle

You may recall the video on the Internet of the little girl in China who wandered away from her mom and wandered into the road where she was ran over by a van. Since China is a police state with cameras everywhere, the event was caught on video. You can see the passenger of the van look out and see the girl before the van drives away. Multiple people passed by, saw the girl dying in the middle of the street, and just walked on by.
I want to take you to another scene, one in America where shoppers walked over a dying man to preserve their place in the black Friday line. What kind of country have we become when life is so invaluable and when our focus is so much on material possessions and not on glorifying God, and when in this time economic uncertainty, in this time of need, in this time when we have a record number of foreclosures and people can’t pay their bills, we see more money spent on black Friday than any other Christmas ever? What kind of people have we become?

We will not give up! We Will End Abortion! Will You Help?

With the loss of Mississippi’s Initiative 26, many in the prolife movement and the media have asked what is our strategy here in Florida. They are quick to point out that Mississippi is more prolife than Florida and ask how we think we can win if a similar initiative can’t even pass in Mississippi.
The good news is that leading up to and following the Mississippi vote, Personhood FL has linked up with new volunteers who are willing to help make the case for life in their county! We currently are working on a plan to contact every church in Florida between now and the end of the year so that the churches can present the Florida ProLife Personhood Petition to their parishioners in January, but we need your help to accomplish this. When the Lord appeared to Joshua near Jericho, Joshua asked, ‘Are You for us or for our adversaries?’ So He said, ‘No, but as Commander of the army of the LORD I have now come.’ This is a curious answer. One would think that the Lord would take sides in this battle, especially since Israel was His chosen people. Yes the answer was, No, but I am here. Joshua’s question really was misdirected. The question should not have been whether God was on Israels side but rather was Israel on God’s side, for it is only when a nation is on God’s side that God will bless and defend and fight for that nation.

This Memorial Day weekend, many will head to the beaches, join together with family and friends, or simply relaxing and enjoying their three day weekend, but this weekend has a purpose bigger than the beach, bigger than barbeques, bigger than three day weekends, and bigger than parties and get-togethers. This weekend is set aside to remember those who have sacrificed much, especially those who have given all, even their very lives, so that you and I and generations before and after us can enjoy the freedom they enjoy. Moreover, the blood freely given by our military forces has not only bought and paid for our freedom in America but also the freedom and security of many other countries and peoples across the world. This Memorial Day weekend, make sure that you take time to remember those who have given their lives so that you might enjoy freedom.

Every election cycle, I receive a barrage of phone calls and emails from voters wanting to know where the candidates stand on the issues. I enjoy these calls because it shows me these citizens care enough to make informed decisions over who they vote for. I think we all agree that we need more informed voters and fewer voters voting based on party, skin color, ethnicity, etc. (I’m sure you remember the exit poll video where Obama voters showed their lack of knowledge of the current political leaders and the video where Obama voters said they voted for him because of his prolife stance and that they liked his choice of Sarah Palin as Vice President.)

Did you know that if you live in St Lucie County that your tax dollars are going to fund Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider? What’s more, most of the programs funded teach Planned Parenthood’s version of safe sex. As you may know, Planned Parenthood views sex as a right of passage for all teenagers and believes that teens are the only ones who know when they are ready to have sex. This month, we are asking you to take two steps to defund Planned Parenthood in our community.

We should honor them every day, yet all too often, mothers don’t receive the respect they deserve. motherhood is in a crisis in America because we have departed from the Biblical Standard for the Family, Fatherhood, and Motherhood. It is time that we return to the clear teaching of Christ found in the word of God, the Bible. These teachings deal with sex before marriage, faithfulness in marriage, whether we view children as a blessing or an inconvenience, the role of women in the work place, and the important but often neglected role of having the older women train the younger women. I challenge you to look to the scripture with me as we seek to understand God’s heart on mothers and motherhood.

12/5/10 Sermon, Has the Government Exceeded Its Biblical Authority

We have seen ever increasingly the ever expanding role of government in America. This expansion has greatly accelerated in the last two years as President Barack Obama has aggressively pushed his radical, socialist agenda. But it’s not just the Federal Government that’s at fault. In Florida, someone who wants to paint someone’s fence has to go to four government offices in different locations and pay fees to get an occupational permit. You shouldn’t need the governments permission to work!
How did the founding fathers make it without permits? How did their houses stand up. How did they make it without welfare? How did they survive without Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security? How did they send their kids to college without government loans? How did they make it without government regulation?
Has the federal government exceeded the authority provided it by our nation’s founding fathers in the US Constitution? More importantly, has it exceeded the authority God gave it in His word, the Bible?
