“Our founding fathers feared that the courts would one day rule our country and strip our freedoms from us.” How can ALLOWING adoption and ALLOWING reproductive choices constitute stripping AWAY our rights? There are many disconnects in your reasoning. This may come as a surprise to you, but many Americans consider activist Fundamentalist Christian judges a threat. And any further intrusion into our personal lives a threat. I will be voting to eliminate most of your recommendations for the bench.

By the way…when is the last time a gay man was convicted of sodomy in Florida? Really? You come across as a mean-spirited, angry, vindictive person. Not a man of God. You are deluding yourself if you think you are on the right path, my friend.

Thank you for your research. Like everyone that came to this site, I used this information to help form my opinion. I do not discredit you for sharing yours and do not wish to attack you for it. Sorry to see others have done so because they disagree and feel they need to put in a dig or two as well.

I was born in New York City, so technically I am US citizen by birth. I was born to Spanish mother and yankee father. I was raised, however, in Spain and I am now married to an american (man). I do have dual citizenship and a rare privilege: I can choose between both systems. Living in the USA and in EU gives me the privilege to clearly see differences than a person who lived only in one system – like you pastor – cannot see. I am not ashamed to voice my opinion.

In Spain and in the rest of the EU, one can not be dropped from medical insurance because a major illness is costing too much or because of a “pre-existing condition”. In my native tongue the word for preexisting condition does not even exist. I am particularly appreciative that in EU even an infirm or elderly parent – not merely a spouse and children – can be added to an insurance policy. US insurance companies and their lobbyists are well aware of – and wary of – the elderly infirm and associated “costs”. As you might already know, the U.S. health system is the most expensive, however, it consistently under-performs compared to the other developed countries.

There are many reasons contributing to the extraordinary cost of per-capita expenditure in the USA. In my opinion the most significant is lobbying. There are many lobbies trying to make big bucks out of the misery of sick Americans, including the MD lobby. Equally if not even more complicit are the insurance, pharmaceutical, hospital, and trial lawyer lobbies. Lobbying is truly a corruption, or better the cancer of today’s American society, taking a very serious toll on the overall economy. The practice is socially reprehensible and rife with greed. The only reason lobbyists are allowed to exist is that the general public (which pays the price) is not very aware of what lobbyists do.

I am appreciative of the 16 weeks 100 % paid maternity leave and the 20-week average paid maternity leave in the EU. Compare this to 0 weeks of paid maternity leave in the USA.

In the EU, the concept of “family values” does not focus around exposing unfaithful spouses or constant anti-gay rhetoric. EU governments clearly know that citizens want something more “concrete”, such as laws that help families stay together, educate their children without dehabilitating tuition costs, and protect them with affordable healthcare.

The gap between the rich and the poor in the US is widening at alarming proportion. With changing demographics in the USA , this is going to become a major – very major – factor if the US is going to continue to prosper.

The USA is a still a rich country; however, the United States ranks dead last on almost all measures of equity because the country has the greatest disparity in the quality of care given to rich and poor citizens. Americans with below-average incomes are much less likely than their counterparts in other industrialized nations to see a doctor when sick, to fill prescriptions or to get needed tests and follow-up care. If you are Donald Trump, you can afford the very best medical care in the USA , or you can go overseas. But if you are an average Joe, possibly without insurance or at the mercy of the whim of a private profit-seeking insurer, the system in the EU is clearly superior.

I only agree with you on abortion. Abortion is almost always a sin.
But the rest of your writing reflects a person who is very unhappy with himself. Think what is the reason: homosexuals around you or self repressed homosexual desires in your own brain?

In EU, average poor HAS access to medical care and free education. Kid born to poor parents in EU can easily become a lawyer or a doctor since that there is no scholarship to be paid. In USA, on the contrary, there is little or no tuition protection. I did not go in debt to become a doctor in Spain and neither did any other student in the EU. In this regard, the systems in the EU provide an equal start in life relative to education for all its citizens. Unlike in the USA, in the EU, one does not have to be born to well-off parents, does not have to get a student loan, and does not have be distracted while working part-time as a waiter to pay for tuition.

I am the first to acknowledge that we Europeans started two horrible wars and “invented” two bad systems: Communism and Nazism. We paid a terrible price for those blunders.

However, in the last half-century we learned a lot from the USA. The EU itself is a product of that learning. The European Union is growing rapidly – in fewer than 50 years, the EU has become the world’s largest economy, surpassing the USA . In addition, the Euro (that is the form of currency used by most countries of the European Union, since you may not know) rose 50 % against the US dollar in only 10 years.

Your letter is rife with contradictions. You claim that no society at any time in history prior to recently placed children in a home with two men or two women and that doing so is an experiment. But on the other hand, you already know (from where?) that children raised by two men or two women are more likely to be exposed to abuse or rape. Here you are lost in your own contradiction.

You claim that you thought you were happy with yourself until me, who don’t even know you, informed you otherwise. I can reply that your posts say much more about you than you think. You are not talking about homosexuals around you, no, you are talking about repressed homosexual desires inside you.

Tell me pastor, why would a 100 % straight man you claim to be, try to curb rights and take away dignity from gay people? Why would a straight man even care about gays? Why???

Seriously, if you brag so much about how great Europe is, why are you here? Enjoy your freedom much? You know you brag about all the ‘free’ services that other countries provide, but you failed to mention what the tax bracket is for middle class folks there? If you propose that high price of 30, 40 and as much as 60% income taxes here you would see a mob want to lynch you; You truly are a fool. Our upper class does pay significantly more than the less wealthy here. I grew up in a poor family, put myself through college, and through hard work, now have worked on some of the most challenging and rewarding programs in this country. I have been rewarded for my work. I was not born entitled as you believe everyone is. In THIS COUNTRY, you get what you WORK for! Now get off your lazy but and move back to Europe because if you disrespect my country again, I will kick your lazy fat butt back to where you belong. You say how well off Europe is, but why do they always trail the U.S.? Why do they need our protection every time there is a tyrant on the rise? Because they do not know the puritanical work ethic. European GDPs and productivity is a joke, and that is why the unruly mobs are burning the streets of France. …and check your facts, the EU model is unsustainable because for the first time in history your population is on the decline. If you don’t know what that means, go back to economics 101. This country may not be perfect, but we tolerate everyone, even idiots like you who have no true rights to claim citizenship.
…and I did work when I went to college. I was hired into the United States Space Program because I showed I could maintain my grades AND work. That is what a work ethic is woman. If you want entitlement, move to the U.S.S.R., that is, if you can find where it went!
