Recently, I became aware of a plan to protest against the Zionist state of Israel scheduled outside of the Temple Beth El Israel in Saint Lucie West, Florida. A CraigsList.org ad posted by an individual organizing the protest reads:

“15/15: May 15th Palestine March (outside Temple Beth El Israel) We invite all humanitarians and activists against the Zionist state of Israel to join us outside the property of The Temple Beth El Israel located at 551 Southwest Bethany Drive, Port St. Lucie. We we gather around 9am and this will be a representation of the sit in protests that will comense globally at all Israeli Embassy world wide! Stand for the people of Palestine and against the crimes against humanity perpetuated by the Government of Israel and the zionists. This will be a peaceful protest to awaken the public to the lie that has brought the unjust destruction of 1000s of Palestinian lives! If you need more information please contact us at nformd@yahoo.com.”

Will you join me in standing with Israel & Jewish member of Temple Beth El Israel Sunday morning? I know that Sunday morning is a difficult time to meet because most Christians attend church services Sunday morning, and I’m not asking you to miss your church service. However, if it doesn’t conflict with your church service, will you stand with me? I will be at Temple Beth El Israel from 8:30 – 9:30 AM Sunday morning. Again, if this doesn’t conflict with your church service, please join me Sunday morning. Possible Sign Suggestions:

  • I Stand with Israel
  • Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem
  • God Gave Israel the Land
  • God Will Bless Those Who Bless Israel

For a discussion on why we should support Israel, see an article written by my dad, Pastor Chuck Longworth entitled Why Should We Support Israel?

“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem, ‘May they prosper who love you. Peace be within your walls, Prosperity within your palaces.’” Psalm 122:6,7.

If there were going to be proper Biblical preaching of repentance to the congregation of that synagogue, then I would have no problem in joining the effort. All that will happen is further affirmation from deceived Christians that these unrepentant Jews are the people of God, apart from Christ. Let them prove through proper application of Gospel preaching that they are His by repentance and trust in Christ alone for salvation. Anything else is from that great deceiver, Satan.

  1. Jim, we were there to obey Psalms 122:6 which reads “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: ‘May they prosper who love you.'” (NKJV) There were over 50 Christians, some Messianic Jews, in attendance, and since we know that true peace comes only from the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, we did pray for their salvation. We prayed for God to hasten the day when the fullness of the Gentiles comes, and God grafts Israel back into the tree that He, in his sovereign mercy, has grafted us into (Romans 11). Please join us in praying for the Peace of Jerusalem.

How many came forth from that synagogue, repented of their sin, and trusted in Christ alone for salvation? I’m glad you prayed for their salvation. But, you have yet to prove that those who worship in that synagogue are “God’s chosen people” according to the Scriptures. Only those who are in Christ truly and Biblically prosper. Brother, let me be clear, if I have not been so already: “Christian” Zionism is a grievous error that has emasculated the Church in America. The sooner we are freed, by God’s grace, from this unScriptural teaching, the better off we will all be.

  2. Jim,
Sadly, none repented that day, but that doesn’t mean our God won’t answer our prayers. 1 Corinthians 3 tells us that some plant, some water, but God gives the increase. It is up to us to plant and water. The results are up to God.

I encourage you to re-read the book of Romans and ask yourself whether you have the same heart for the Jewish people that Paul had. Paul was willing to go to Hell to save the Jews, and his life shows that he meant it. Would to God that we had the same fervor for to see Israel accept Christ as their Messiah.
